High Security Retransfer Card Printing

Using the retransfer printing process, the IDP WISE CXD80 uses a standard full color dye film (YMCK or YMCKK for dual-side printing) to print an image onto a clear retransfer film in a "reverse image." The image is then laminated onto the plastic card surface. Your printed card is highly protected from scratching and fading by the clear film layer. Retransfer technology also delivers vivid printing with over-the-edge coverage for a wide range of plastic card applications. Due to the high heat used in the retransfer print process, ID Card Group recommends printing on a composite card stock and cautions against using adhesive cards.

The benefits of retransfer printing with the WISE-CXD80 include:

•The ability to print on uneven card surfaces such as smart cards
•True edge-to-edge printing (via over-the-edge printing). Traditional card printers must leave a white border because printing out to the edge would damage the printhead.
•The ability to print on non-PVC cards. Dye sublimation requires a porous surface available only through PVC cards.
