What is direct card printer?

Direct card printer .it refers to the printer head directly contact with the card. Used in the small batch card printing business however, this cheap direct card printer owes some disadvantages. The printer head directly contact card-- if the card surface is uneven, or with deckle edge, printer head will be damaged. In order to avoid direct contact with the edge of the card, margins will be left to protect the print head.

Direct card printer can not realize the card real edge to edge printing. After printing the card, there will be some white board. This is done to avoid print head injury. What is a retransfer printer?

Retransfer card printer adds a piece of transfer printing film and the printer head does not directly contact with ID cards. With this process, the printhead does not come in direct contact with your card, allowing you to print over the edge of your cards and to a wider variety of card surfaces including proximity cards, smart cards, pre-punched cards and key tag cards. Another benefit: retransfer printers produce imagery with rich, vibrant, saturated colors.
